The Summit for Democracy last week has evoked the latest battle of narratives on “democracy” between China and the U.S. Days before the summit, Beijing released a whitepaper defending China’s Democracy and a report highlighting the dysfunction of democracy in the United States. Aside from the governmental efforts, the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY) published a report on ten questions for American democracy, in which the think tank urges Washington to “ask itself” when organizing the event. CUSEF Hosts it's Second Virtual Mandarin Course for Students

After the success of our first Mandarin Course, CUSEF has once again welcomed a new batch of students to join our program. From September 10 to December 3, CUSEF hosted its second virtual Mandarin course for American students to hone their language skills and pick up a few new phrases along the way. Over twenty students representing eight historically black colleges and universities attended the course taught by Beijing Foreign Studies University on a weekly basis. To enhance the exchange experience, four Chinese student ambassadors attended the course and provided additional support to the students by reviewing the materials learned in smaller groups and practicing new communication techniques with them. China-U.S. Graduate Students Joint Research Project

Academic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American teachers and students are vital to deepen understanding between two countries and minimize misunderstanding. On November 23rd 2021, CUSEF hosted the first meeting between Dr. Raymond Terry, Director of the SCHP Office of Global Health Initiatives at Morgan State University and Professor Xie Tao, Dean of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Beijing Foreign Studies University, along with a total of 10 graduate students, 5 from each university. The students will conduct a 6-month Joint Research paper on the topic of ‘Global Health’. Read More
