HONG KONG, September 18, 2026 — The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) joins the people of Hong Kong in bidding a final farewell to the Honorable Tung Chee Hwa, its Founder and Chairman Emeritus.
Three public condolence points are open from September 18 to 20 for members of the public to pay their respects and sign condolence books. Vigil will be held on Saturday afternoon, September 19, followed by the public memorial service on Sunday morning, September 20.
Mr. James Chau, President of the China-United States Exchange Foundation, said:
“CUSEF stands with the Tung family in remembering Mr. Tung Chee Hwa—a statesman of exceptional foresight whose life and leadership set an extraordinary example and whose values continue to shape CUSEF’s character and purpose.
“In founding CUSEF, he gave lasting expression to his belief that a stable and resilient relationship between China and the United States is essential to the well-being of both countries and to global peace, progress and prosperity.
“Mr. Tung often told me that ‘tomorrow will be better than today,’ provided that we commit our best efforts to making it so. I will miss him enormously, as will all of us who were privileged to have known and worked with him. CUSEF will honor his memory by carrying forward the purpose to which he devoted his life.”
