HONG KONG, September 14, 2026 — China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) has established a lasting tribute to the Honorable Tung Chee Hwa, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of CUSEF, First Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and a lifelong advocate for dialogue and understanding between China, the United States and the wider international community.
The tribute brings together more than 100 reflections from friends, colleagues and leaders from around the world who knew and worked with Mr. Tung, to preserve their memories and to document the values and vision that guided his life’s work.
Among those who have shared their tributes are the Board of Governors of CUSEF, the institution Mr. Tung established in 2008; Former Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan, Ambassador Max Baucus, and Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus; Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Senior Emeritus Minister Goh Chok Tong; Former State Councilor Yang Jiechi, Ambassador Xie Feng, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming, Ambassador Fu Ying, and Ambassador Cui Tiankai; Secretary Hank Paulson, Mr. John Podesta, Mr. Christopher Nixon Cox, and Admiral William Owens; Minister Mogens Lykketoft, Dr. Margaret Chan, and Mr. Joe Tsai.
