• Xi Meets With Putin In Moscow | Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded two days of talks in Moscow by signing a joint statement highlighting the settling of the Ukraine crisis through dialogue. Putin praised Xi’s peace plan for Ukraine, and Xi reiterated China’s “neutral position.” The U.S. White House responded by urging China to pressure Russia to withdraw from Ukraine. Xi is expected to have a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after the Russia visit.

• China Releases U.S. Democracy Report | China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a report on the state of democracy in the U.S., presenting that the country’s democracy faces challenges domestically. It also reveals the U.S. peddling and imposing its democracy across the globe, leaving a trail of destruction and disaster in its wake. On the same day, the U.S. also published its 2022 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, criticizing China’s human rights conditions. Beijing responded that the report contains “political lies and ideological prejudice.” Critics n China say human rights are just a tool used by the U.S. to unite allies and partners in order to suppress its dissent.

• Taiwan’s Tsai Travels Through U.S. | Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen plans to make stopovers in the U.S. on her way to and from Central America, a move that China's foreign ministry has condemned. Tsai's travel includes transits through New York and Los Angeles as part of her visit to Guatemala and Belize. Although it was initially reported that Tsai would meet with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, there has been no confirmation of this meeting. While Tsai's trip to Central America aims to strengthen ties with the region, Honduras has made its intention open to switch diplomatic relationships from Taipei to Beijing. Meanwhile, former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou plans to visit Mainland China next week.
