  • Wang Yi Met Blinken | Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, with both sides describing the talks as “candid.” While Blinken expressed concern about China’s alliance with Russia at the meeting, Wang urged to bring China-U.S. relations back on track. Experts see the meeting could affect whether President Xi and Biden will meet later this year and believe the two need to lay down some ground rules to ease the current tensions.
  • China Outlines Framework for Taiwan Policy | In a People's Daily article, China’s top official for cross-strait affairs Liu Jieyi for the first time laid out the pathways to the reunification between Mainland China and Taiwan. These remarks come as China is gaining influence in the Pacific region, and the U.S. and Australia have expressed concern over the recent security pact between China and the Solomon Islands.
