  • U.S. Inflation at 40-Year High | The U.S. Federal Reserve has signaled an increase in interest rates in March as the country's inflation surged to a four-decade high last month. A recent survey shows that about 1/3 of Americans see inflation as the most urgent issue of the U.S., echoing some previous polls on the American middle class that ranked rising prices as one of their biggest concerns.
  • A Russian Invasion of Ukraine? | Russia withdrew some of its forces from its western borders on Wednesday, shrugging off a Ukraine invasion speculation by the U.S. and NATO. The U.S. and its allies remain alert and continue to heed warnings, although observing experts say an invasion is unlikely because it is against Russian interests. Countries including China are calling for diplomatic solutions to the crisis.
  • Panda Becomes a New "Evil" | The U.S. Congress is discussing a bill to change the current "on-loan" arrangement on pandas between the U.S. and China, seeking the ownership of pandas born in the U.S. and the involvement of U.S. allies in panda raising. People who support the bill say the lovely animals that serve as goodwill ambassadors for China distract people from China's human rights issues. However, others think that the claim is ridiculous and the U.S. government should not use pandas as political leverage.
