RUSSIAN FORCES ENTER DONBASS
  • The Russian forces have entered Donbass swiftly after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in the area and said there were “no plans to occupy Ukrainian territory.” Ukraine has declared martial law in the whole country. Earlier today, serious cyberattacks hit the Ukraine government websites.
  • U.S. President Joe Biden condemned Russia’s actions and pledged that the Nord Stream II “will not move forward” and that more sanctions on Russia were on the way. Other G7 countries will follow suit.
U.S. TO REPLACE CHINA INITIATIVE WITH BROADER APPROACH
  • The U.S. Justice Department is ending the China Initiative, a Trump-era legacy aiming at the Chinese intelligence activities, due to the concerns of bias against Chinese Americans. The department, however, will replace the initiative with a more “comprehensive approach,” expanding the targets to the threats from “hostile nations” such as Russia, Iran, North Korea, Belarus, Malaysia, and Pakistan.
