Peking University’s Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding (iGCU) and the National Committee on United States–China Relations (NCUSCR) co-hosted the second “U.S.–China Young Scholars Dialogue: A Roundtable Conversation on China–U.S. Relations” on January 7–8, 2026. Mr. James Chau, President of the China–United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), delivered a video address at the event, where fifteen young scholars from NCUSCR gathered to exchange views with Chinese experts on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations.
In his speech, Mr. Chau stated: “You represent a generation of thinkers who see the U.S. and China not as a problem to be contained, but as a possibility to be renewed.”
He also discussed CUSEF’s longstanding mission of fostering mutual understanding, noting that the foundation has facilitated exchanges for more than 3,000 young people and collaborated with musicians, artists, and storytellers. “Whether in classrooms or concert halls, we witness how exchange touches hearts in ways that dialogue alone cannot,” he said. He further encouraged participants to jointly build the future of U.S.-China relations.
Professor Wang Dong, Director of the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding (iGCU) and Professor at the School of International Studies, Peking University, and Ms. Elizabeth Knup, Honorary Senior Fellow, Center for China Analysis, Asia Society Policy Institute and Board Member, National Committee on United States–China Relations (NCUSCR), delivered opening remarks, respectively.
