One Young World, the global community for young leaders, and the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), a non-governmental organization committed to building trust between the world’s two largest economies, announced their 2025 cohort of CUSEF x One Young World Scholars today.
These four young leaders were selected to join the One Young World Community and attend the One Young World Summit in Munich, Germany, from November 3-6, 2025.
The program advances mutual understanding between the two leading global economies by elevating the work of young leaders committed to tackling global challenges through East-West cooperation.
The Scholars, chosen from a competitive pool of global candidates, have demonstrated a proven positive social impact in fields such as climate change, legal policy, and cultural understanding. The CUSEF-endowed scholarship will leverage the expertise of One Young World to enhance each participant's leadership skills and expand their worldview.
The Scholars attending the Summit include:
- Eliane Johanna Maria Schweers (Germany): A law student at Humboldt University of Berlin, Eliane is a legal policy specialist committed to advancing legal frameworks that promote social inclusion and responsible governance. She has supported legislative research for a Member of the German Parliament and led food assistance programs through Rotaract.
- Jiaxuan (Norah) Zhang (China): A Climate Policy Analyst at NewClimate Institute in Berlin, Norah focuses on tracking climate mitigation and the link between climate policy and sustainable development. She is a passionate advocate for just transitions from coal and has represented youth voices at high-level forums including UN Climate Conferences.
- Jing-Jing Hu (Germany): A German-born Chinese entrepreneur, Jing-Jing is the founder of Chumi Studio, an illustration and gifting brand that promotes cultural understanding through products that blend East and West. She is also the creator and host of the podcast, You Rice Me Up, which features Asian Europeans from all walks of life.

Scholars will participate in four transformative days of speeches, panels, networking, mentorships and workshops at the One Young World Summit. They also have the opportunity to deliver keynote speeches alongside global leaders, with the international media covering the event.
The CUSEF scholars will meet distinguished international figures, with past guests having included Queen Rania of Jordan and Professor Muhammad Yunus, connect with like-minded individuals from across the globe, and expand their knowledge to advance their work in creating positive social impact.
This year, the Summit will take place at Messe Munich, with the Opening Ceremony held at Olympic Park – a vibrant recreational and cultural venue for world-class events, built for the 1972 Summer Olympics.
James Chau, President of CUSEF, says: “We are proud to welcome this new generation of young leaders who embody our shared mission of dialogue and global well‑being. Their work, from climate action and legal reform to cross‑cultural understanding, illustrates how the imagination and courage of youth can redefine what is possible. Building on last year’s success, we continue to invest in changemakers who are transforming challenges into opportunities and shaping a more peaceful, connected world.”
Ella Robertson McKay, Managing Director of One Young World, says: “Our partnership with CUSEF is vital for strengthening ties between the US and China, especially in today's global context.
