Thank you for joining us in shaping "Circles for Peace"

2025-11-26

Dear Friends,

Last week, global leaders gathered in Hong Kong for the 6th U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum — a timely and forward-looking conversation on how we can shape “Circles for Peace” together. This year’s Forum, co-organized with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and supported by The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts, brought together around 50 leaders from the U.S., China, India, Singapore, Germany, and beyond.

We were honored to hear opening remarks from John Zhao, Chairman of CUSEF, who reminded us that “the U.S. and China each bring different strengths and visions to the world,” and that guided by mutual respect, both nations can “collaborate with shared leadership… creating a more equitable and sustainable global order.”

Ambassador Xie Feng, speaking via video link, called the recent Busan Summit between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump “a new starting point,” urging both countries to turn leaders’ consensus into action. His remarks resonated in a week of renewed diplomatic movement: the Forum came just days after the Busan meetings, and was followed shortly by the announcement that Presidents Trump and Xi will meet again in April. These developments signal cautious but meaningful momentum — a reminder that dialogue remains the most reliable pathway forward.

Our distinguished speakers, including Charlene Barshefsky, Nirupama Rao, Wang Jisi, and representatives of the Nixon, Carter, and Bush presidential families, offered clear perspectives on technology governance, global stability, and the responsibilities of major powers. Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, delivered a defining keynote, reminding us that “power is not the ability to command; it is the ability to unite,” and that peace must be drawn together, not alone.

We also honored shared history through a moving Flying Tigers tribute, including remarks from 101-year-old veteran Dr. Robert Moore — a powerful reminder that solidarity has long bridged our two nations.

As we conclude this year’s Forum, we extend our deepest thanks to every speaker, partner, delegate, and guest who joined us. You can revisit the program, speeches, and highlights on our website here, and view the full Forum photo gallery here. For more moments from the event, keep an eye on our social media channels — particularly our Instagram, @cusef_hk, where we’ll be sharing additional coverage.

Our founder, Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, often says, “Tomorrow will be better than today.” Let’s carry that spirit forward as we continue building the circles of peace our world urgently needs.

Warm wishes,

James Chau
