From Dialogue to Action

2025-09-23

Dear CUSEF Community,

In this edition of Harbor Connect, I'll touch on our scholars program, India's balancing act, an exciting partnership at the UN General Assembly, and the upcoming 6th U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum.

In a time increasingly defined by division, dialogue is a compelling reminder of hope. This summer, our scholars program was pleased to host students from The Lawrenceville School and Harvard College for environmental and educational exchange across China, providing unique opportunities for cross-cultural interactions.

We've also advanced our digital work, including a discussion with Ananth Krishnan, Director of The Hindu Group. In this interview, he thoughtfully explores the strategic choices India is making to shape its role on the global stage — and its delicate balancing act between China and the U.S.

I'm also honored to announce our partnership with the Yunus Centre and The YY Foundation — both founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus. CUSEF will support his annual High-Level Event, an official session during the UN General Assembly in New York.

This year's 80th UNGA is historic. I will be speaking as CUSEF President and as a long-time WHO Goodwill Ambassador — emphasizing peace, won through immense sacrifice 80 years ago, and still requiring our defense to preserve and extend it to all people today.

We will continue these conversations at CUSEF's 6th U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum on November 17th, where we will reflect on achieving peace through three themes shaping our shared future: artificial intelligence, geopolitics, and people-to-people ties. Joining our annual flagship event will be current and former heads of government, Nobel laureates, policymakers, CEOs, and more. As we have limited capacity, please let us know if you're interested in attending by filling out this form.

In a world of such division, hope must be matched by action. Peace cannot be assumed; it must be defended, shared, and made real for all. That conviction guides our work at CUSEF, and we look forward to accelerating this effort with you today.

Please stay in touch.
