  • China Demands Cancellation of U.S. Arms Sales To Taiwan | The U.S. State Department has approved the potential sale of $108 million worth of military-technical assistance to Taiwan. China's Ministry of National Defence responded by demanding that the U.S. cancel this sale. However, some business groups in the U.S. said the arms sales are too restrictive and cannot address the Chinese military's challenge.
  • Tensions Rise Among U.S. And Chinese Military | Tensions between the U.S. and Chinese military continue to grow in the South China Sea, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Milley, has called for a record of all interactions between the two militaries over the last 5 years. This comes as a U.S. Navy vessel sailed near the Nansha Islands (also known as the Spratly Islands) this week in the South China Sea. The Chinese military says this is a violation of China’s sovereignty while the U.S. says China’s claims are dangerous for the region.
  • Biden Concludes Middle East Tour | U.S. President Biden wrapped up his four-day tour of the Middle East, where he met with Arab leaders to reaffirm U.S. commitments to the region. Washington expressed its commitment to Israeli security and made it clear that normalizing relations between Israel and Arab countries are a top priority. Observers have criticized Biden for being too soft on Saudi Arabia and Israel while being too tough on Palestine.
