Prosecutors Dropped Case of Gang Chen
The U.S. Federal prosecutors have dropped the case against Gang Chen, a Chinese-born mechanical engineering scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Chen was arrested in January 2021 for concealing his posts in Chinese government institutions. The charge was a part of the China Initiative, an anti-espionage effort under the Trump administration.
U.S. and Russia Talk Again on Ukraine
Eleven days after the talks between Russia and U.S. delegations in Geneva, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet today in the same city to make a last-ditch bid to seek a solution over Ukraine. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) welcomes the meeting despite Blinken’s hard line ahead of the talks.
China and Russia Block Sanctions on North Korean
China and Russia on Thursday delayed a U.S. effort at the UN to impose sanctions on five North Koreans after Pyongyang signaled to resume nuclear and long-range missile tests. The two countries said they were seeking more information on the case.
