Creating Relationships through Education

Through our educational exchanges, we offer American students the opportunity to explore and grow their understanding of China. Our in-country visits enable students not only to experience Chinese culture and its people first hand, but to also gain insight into politics, security, business, technology, environment and the anti-poverty initiatives in China.

Partnering with the Chinese People’s Association with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the China-United States Exchange Foundation hosted a group of 18 Harvard Kennedy School graduate students for the 5th annual 10-day study trek to China.

The delegation visited Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai, participating in substantive meetings to achieve a better understanding of China’s global engagement as well as the opportunities and challenges the nation faces on the world stage. Through discussions with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Affairs Department of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), in addition to regional organizations and businesses such as the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and NIO Shanghai, the students gained greater awareness of the ways in which China collaborates with foreign nations and received a first-hand experience of the unique economic and global state of affairs China finds itself in today. Alongside visits with government officials and international businesses, the delegation explored Mutianyu Great Wall, took a river cruise on Huangpu River, and visited the giant pandas at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Center.
