Creating Relationships through Education

Through our educational exchanges, we offer American students the opportunity to explore and grow their understanding of China. Our in-country visits enable students not only to experience Chinese culture and its people first hand, but to also gain insight into politics, security, business, technology, environment and the anti-poverty initiatives in China.

For our African-American Student groups, CUSEF offers the opportunity to explore and grow their understanding of China – a vast and complex country. In-country visits enable students to not only experience Chinese culture and its people, but also to gain insight into politics, philosophy, language, history and more. In cooperation with the Congressional Black Caucus and other civil society organizations focusing on the black community in the U.S., CUSEF has hosted over 750 students in China for this immersive study-abroad program.

Through a continuing partnership with Beijing Foreign Studies University and forging new partnerships with Jilin University, Lanzhou University, Nankai University and Shandong University, CUSEF has successfully hosted multiple African American student groups to China.

This year we have hosted promising student groups to China, which include:

- Chicago Urban League’s Student Mission to China: The Power of Opportunity

- Clark Atlanta Student Leaders Study Mission to China

- HBCU’s Scholars of Inter-Cultural China Studies Delegation to China

- Lone Star China-US Student Exchange Program

- Peralta Community College District China Exchange Program

These delegates first visit Beijing, then to other cities throughout China to participate in various activities: attending lectures on China-U.S. relations, Chinese history, Chinese philosophy, culture and language; participating in various cultural workshops on Chinese calligraphy, martial arts; and touring historical sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
