  • Beijing Olympic Boycott | The U.S. is considering a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, which Chinese commentators call unnecessary and dramatic. Amidst other western countries threatening to boycott as well, Russia's Vladamir Putin announced that he will be attending the Olympics and meeting with President Xi, presenting further evidence of a strengthening Russia-China relationship. 
  • Oil Reserves | China and the U.S. are among several countries that have agreed to tap into their oil reserves to help lower global gasoline prices. Some observers say that the temporary fix does not do enough to solve the larger supply flow problems. Others are praising President Xi and President Biden for their mutual agreement and cooperation.
  • China-ASEAN Summit | Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting with ASEAN leaders on Monday was wrapped up by a joint statement that advanced the two parties' relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Experts see it as a victory for China in the region, where the U.S. wants to gain partners to rival China.
