  • Senator's Visit To Taiwan Angers China | U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth visited Taiwan on Tuesday without a previous announcement. China sent 30 warplanes to areas around the island a day before the trip. State Secretary Blinken's reiteration of the "one-China" policy did not ease the tensions between China and the U.S. over the Taiwan issue. Beijing recently has been accusing Washington of inconsistency between its words and deeds.
  • Wang Yi On Pacific Islands Tour | Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is on a 10-day trip to the Pacific islands this week and has discussed a potential security pact that will address trade and regional security. While they agreed on five areas of cooperation, the countries failed to strike a security deal, with Micronesia opposing the security plan outlined in the draft.
  • Biden Shows His Determination To Fight Inflation | President Biden outlined his plan to tackle the high inflation in an opinion article this week before meeting with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on the issue. Some officials said the White House should have acknowledged its COVID stimulus would cause soaring prices.
