  • Russia Invades Ukraine | Russia has begun its attack on Ukraine, and Ukraine’s ambassador to Washington says over 40 Ukrainian servicemen and dozens of civilians have been killed as Russia heads towards the capital Kyiv. Western media is criticizing China for its refusal to condemn the attacks, but China denies backing Russia’s military push in Ukraine and has called for restraint.
  • The U.S. Government Cancels the “China Initiative” | The Department of Justice in the U.S. has canceled the controversial “China Initiative” and will replace it with a more “comprehensive approach” to preventing theft of intellectual property by China and other “hostile” nations. The program was highly scrutinized for racial profiling.
  • Fifty Years After Nixon’s Visit to China| It is the fiftieth anniversary of the former U.S. President Nixon’s historic visit to Chairman Mao in China. This meeting allowed the two countries to engage economically, but observers say the lessons of Nixon’s visit have been forgotten by today’s politicians as America continues to disengage from China both economically and politically.
