  • Blinken and Wang Meet at Munich Security Conference | U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi last week on the sidelines of the global security conference in Munich. The two met to discuss the recent balloon incident and the Ukraine war. In an interview after the meeting, Blinken claims that China is considering supplying weapons and ammunition to Russia, an accusation that Beijing strongly denies. Observers say recent events have deepened mistrust between the U.S. and China, and the meeting has been described as tense.
  • American Congress Visits Taiwan | A U.S. congressional delegation led by a lawmaker from Silicon Valley visited Taiwan to bolster economic and security ties with the region. During the five-day trip, they meet with the region’s Tsai Ing-wen, members of the legislature, and chip manufacturing leaders. Mike Gallagher, chairman of the House's new China committee, also made a secret visit to Taiwan and called for arming the island. Observers say the rising tensions between China and the U.S. have encouraged U.S. lawmakers to support Taipei, which Beijing sees as a "Taiwan independence" force that it strongly opposes.

  • Putin Talks With Wang Yi | China’s top diplomat Wang Yi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, stressing that their relations will not be interfered with by a third party. The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine war, with Wang expressing appreciation for Russia’s willingness to solve the issue through diplomatic approaches. Experts believe Wang’s trip will pave the way for President Xi to visit Russia later this year.
