  • Boao Forum for Asia | At this week's Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, President Xi Jinping calls for abandoning the Cold War mentality and proposed China's initiative on global security. He also assured the audience that China's development is in good shape, appearing to try to win the confidence of investors who are skeptical about the country's strict Covid policies.
  • China Signs Security Deal With Solomon Islands | China's signing of a security deal with the Solomon Islands has triggered anxiety in the U.S. and its Oceanian allies. The U.S. responds by sending two top officials to the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea to address its security concerns. Commentators see the West losing the Pacific islands country and China gaining more footholds in the region.
  • U.S. State Department Releases 2022 Compliance Report | The U.S. has released the 2022 report on Adherence to and Compliance with Arms Control, Nonproliferation, and Disarmament Agreements and Commitments. The report accuses China of not being transparent about testing activities and failing to adhere to its nuclear testing moratorium, and accuses Russia of failing to adhere to the zero-yield standard. Chinese officials say the accusations are false and that China continues to uphold its international obligations.
