  • China warns Taiwan secessionists about the "red line" | China's Foreign Ministry and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council sternly warned secessionists in Taiwan against breaching the "One China" principle after the island's leader Tsai Ing-wen met with the head of the National Endowment for Democracy and some DPP officials promoted "mutual recognition of sovereignty." As Russia and Ukraine made the "most meaningful progress" in their negotiation, the tensions across the Taiwan Strait are ramping up.
  • U.S. Senate Passes America Competes Act | This week the U.S. Senate passed its version of the America COMPETES Act, which aims to enhance the U.S.'s competitiveness with China, especially in technology. Although the amended bill is significantly different from the bill passed by the House, it is one step closer to a consolidated plan to boost the U.S. technology industries.

  • China Hosts Multilateral Meetings on Afghanistan | China hosted the 3rd Foreign Ministers’ Meeting among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan this week to discuss Afghanistan's humanitarian and economic crisis. Diplomats from Afghanistan, China, the U.S., Russia, and Pakistan participated in a sideline consultation mechanism meeting. Bringing together all parties most concerned with the Afghanistan situation, China showed sincerity to help Afghanistan develop.
