Biden's First Press Conference in 2022

U.S. President Joe Biden held a press conference on Wednesday to mark his first year in the office. When asked whether Russia will invade Ukraine, Biden expected Russian President to “move in.” Biden also said he would keep the tariffs on China’s imports before China meets its commitments in the Phase One trade deal.

China Grants Visas to 46 U.S. Officials

China has agreed to issue visas to 46 U.S. officials who seek to come to China for the Beijing Winter Olympics despite the U.S. diplomatic boycott. The White House said the delegation are not official representatives but a team for medical and security support.

U.S. Warship Enters South China Sea

China has expelled the U.S. destroyer USS Benfold that entered China’s sea territory in Xisha today without notification, said a Chinese military official. The warship conducted similar missions in South China Sea in July and September last year. 

Slovenia Gets Closer to Taiwan after Lithuania 

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson condemned Slovenia’s negotiation with Taiwan about opening representative agencies on each other’s soil and was “shocked” by Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa’s remarks on Taiwan. The event triggered discussions about how China should manage its relations with countries like Slovenia and Lithuania
