The Second China-U.S. Strategic Security and Stability Dialogue, co-organized by the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), was held on April 24-25 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, bringing together senior figures from both countries for candid, high-level discussions on nuclear risk, crisis prevention, and the future of bilateral relations in the Trump 2.0 era. CUSEF President James Chau delivered remarks at the event and moderated a panel discussion.
U.S. experts included former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun; former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and retired Admiral Mike Mullen; former U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs and NATO's first female Deputy Secretary-General Rose Gottemoeller; and former Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command and retired Admiral James O. Ellis, Jr.
Chinese experts included former Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Cui Tiankai; Chief Researcher and Director of the Northeast Asia Research Center of Grandview Institution Zhang Tuosheng; and Director of the American Research Center of Grandview Institution Zhu Junwei.
While guests from both sides acknowledged significant differences between the two countries in areas of strategic security and stability, they emphasized the urgent need to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in key areas.
CUSEF co-organized the event as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering candid conversations and mutual understanding, and its ongoing support of platforms that advance global peace, cooperation, and long-term security.
