Third Bilateral Working Group Meeting of the Pacific Community Initiative held in the U.S.
Sponsored by the China-United States Exchange Foundation, the third bilateral working group meeting of the Pacific Community Initiative was held in Washington D.C. from November 11 to 13, 2018. The Chinese group led by Professor Wang Jisi, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies of Peking University, had in-depth discussions with the US group led by Professor David Lampton from the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University. The meeting covered a range of topics including China-US security tensions, mending fences for economic engagement, deepening cultural and people-to-people exchanges, tackling nontraditional security challenges, non-traditional security, regional governance and institution building. Both sides believe that the Pacific Community Initiative is not only beneficial to China-US relations, but also conducive to the peace and stability in Asia-Pacific Region. The meeting decided to publish a monograph on these issues.
