US Journalists’ Visit to China in October 2018

The China U.S. Exchange Foundation has been organizing visits to China for journalists from across the US continuously, in order for them to have open discussions with Chinese officials, scholars, business executives, university professors and students etc.

In 2018, partnering with Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, we brought a group of US journalist from US mainstream media such as The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Chicago Tribute, National Public Radio, Vox and Forbes to visit China from October 17th to 26th. The delegates traveled to Beijing, Qingdao, Yantai and Chengdu. Since the visit was in the shadow of the strained China-US relations, we arranged for them to visit the Department of Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, School of International Studies of Peking University, the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University, Institute of American Studies in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Ocean University of China, and Sichuan University, enabling them to better understand the political and economic relations between China and the United States. After touring rural areas, ports and enterprises, the US journalists deeply learnt about the prominent progress made by China in the 40 years of reform and opening up.
