CUSEF participated in CGCC Chinese Lunar New Year Gala Dinner in New York
On January 12, 2017, Foundation Chairman C. H. Tung attended the China General Chamber of Commerce- USA (CGCC) Annual Gala Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York and delivered remarks.
As one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Tung believed American people and Chinese people share the same aspiration. He said, “As Americans, you have a dream, dream for life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. People in China today also have a dream. It is a dream for all citizens to rise above poverty, to live in dignity, to live in a society that is just and democratic, and to share growing prosperity. The American dream and the Chinese dream are fundamentally one dream, a dream for a better life in a peaceful and a prosperous world, for this generation and many generations to come. Let’s go for it!”
Celebrating the Chinese New Year and honoring outstanding enterprises and business leaders of the China-U.S. business community, the dinner attracted over 500 policy-makers, business leaders, academics and think tanks of the two nations attended. Some of the prominent guests included Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai, Former Secretary of State of the United States Henry A. Kissinger, Founder of Bloomberg LP and former Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg, Chairman, CEO & Co-Founder of the Blackstone Group and Chair of President-elect Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum Stephen A. Schwarzman.
