HOUSE PASSES AMERICA COMPETES ACT
- Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Monday condemned the passage of the America COMPETES Act by the U.S. House of Representatives, saying that the legal document is full of “cold-war, zero-sum game mentality.”
UN SANCTION RULES IN DISPUTE
- In a meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday, Russia and China lashed out at the abuse of unilateral sanctions and encountered opposition from the U.S. The clash came after China and Russia blocked a U.S. sanction on North Korea last month.
INTENSIVE TALKS OVER UKRAINE
- French President Emmanuel Macron flew to Moscow to talk with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over Ukraine on Monday. On the same day, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House for the same issue. Paris and Berlin are also actively seeking communication with the Ukrainian government.
