Since 2010, the China-US Exchange Foundation has supported the National Urban League in organizing for groups of influential African-Americans to visit China.
In 2010, a group of 46 African-American community leaders visited Beijing and Tianjin, and met with senior Chinese officials. This was a first for a national African-American leadership group of this size. In 2011, CUSEF and the Los Angeles National Urban league arranged for over 30 African American students to visit Beijing and Shanghai, bringing students of the two countries together for cultural exchange. In 2012, a second group of community leaders visited Beijing and Xi’an. These visits have enabled the participants to gain a better understanding of China’s political, business and academic environments, as well as to explore cooperative opportunities between the Chinese and African-American communities.
