Former Senators Delegation 2017

In partnership with the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress (FMC) and the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), CUSEF sponsored a delegation of Former Senators to visit China from 18th February to 26th February, 2017.

During their 9-day visit, the delegation traveled to three cities in China, namely Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, and met with officials from the National People’s Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Guangzhou Municipal Government. Highlights of the meetings included an off-the-record meeting with Mr. Wang QiShan, Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and a dinner meeting with Madame Fu Ying, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China’s National People's Congress. The senators also had an informal panel discussion with experts of the Center for Peace and Development Studies on a number of international and regional hot-button issues.
