Since 2008, the China-US Exchange Foundation has organized annual visits to China for active and former US government officials, including Governors, Lieutenant Governors, State Legislators, Former Senators and Former Congressmen. These visits have helped to enhance communication between the two countries and expand on potential business opportunities and cultural exchange. A total of over 15 Governors and Lieutenant Governors, 19 State Legislators, 17 Former Congressmen and 8 Former Senators have benefited from the exchange, visiting a range of cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Taiyuan and Lanzhou. These visits enable the participants to meet their Chinese counterparts and get better acquainted with China’s political and legislative structure. Meanwhile the participants are also presented with a unique opportunity to witness China’s latest economic development, and to cultivate friendships with the country’s leaders.
