Special Advisor

Mr. Alexander Tzang Hing Chung

Mr. Alexander Tzang is the Executive Director of Able Mind Limited in Hong Kong. The company provides consultancy and training services to business enterprises and higher education institutions in the areas of strategic development and planning, management and operation reform, management leadership as well as public relations and communication. Mr. Tzang has served international business corporations, higher education institutions and community service organizations for over forty years. He is widely recognized for his expertise and experience in strategic development and planning, management and operation reform, management leadership as well as public relations and communication.

He was invited to serve as a Vice President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1994 and was responsible for external collaboration and partnership, communications and university's management upgrade. In 2000, he was appointed the University's Deputy President. At that capacity, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the university's strategic plan, management reform of the university as well as the management of human resources, finance, public relations, alumni affairs and resources development. He retired from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 1 January 2010 but continued to serve the University as Senior Advisor to President until 31 October 2010.

Mr. Tzang graduated from the National Defense Medical Center, Taipei with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. Prior to developing and managing his family business, Mr. Tzang worked for a number of multinational corporations in the areas of pharmaceutical, nutritional, products research and development, marketing and management operations. He then developed and managed his family's business and has developed more than a dozen of pharmaceutical, insecticide products and patented technology.

Mr. Tzang has served Jaycees (Junior Chamber) International (JCI) as its Executive Vice President and Treasurer after completing his term as National President of the Hong Kong Junior Chamber. He was a member of the Council of the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong (now Open University), Secretary General of the Hong Kong Chemical Society and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (Hong Kong) and a member of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation.

At present, Mr. Tzang is an Advisor of the Guangzhou Foundation for the Progress of Science and Technology, Honorary Advisor of the Zhejiang University Development Committee, Visiting Professor and Consultant Professor of several renowned universities in Chinese Mainland, Honorary Fellow of Warwick Manufacturing Group, The University of Warwick, Honourary Chairman of the Association of Bauhinia Cup Outstanding Entrepreneurs, Honourable Founding President of International Strategic Technology Alliance, Council Chairman of Jieyang College of Professional Technology, Executive Vice Chairman of the Wanxiang Polytechnic in Hangzhou, Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of Tung Wah College, Hong Kong, Senior Advisor of the Wanxiang Group of Companies in Hangzhou and a Director of Chiang Chen Industrial Charity Foundation Limited, Hong Kong.

In November 2011, Mr. Tzang was appointed as the China-United States Exchange Foundation’s Special Advisor.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the organization and many of its key activities, he was honoured with the JCI Presidential Award of Excellence in National Organization Management in 1974 and the Most Outstanding JCI Executive Vice-President Award in 1981. He was also honoured by several U.S. cities and states as honorary citizens, etc.
